GLOSSARY
AI Overview
DEFINITION
AI Overview is the box Google shows at the top of the results, above the links and ads, with an answer written by artificial intelligence and a list of a few sources.
In Italy it has been live since 2025. Many people find the answer straight in the box, so even the site ranking first on Google gets fewer clicks. The sources it cites, on the other hand, gain visibility and high-quality visits.
To be among the sources you need content that answers directly and verifiably, well-organised pages and signals that prove expertise. How often you appear in AI Overview shows up in Search Console. We cover it in our guide to GEO and AI Overview.
